Pinks

What they lack in size they make up for in numbers and fun.

If you take a 7 weight single hander or 6 weight spey rod you will have a lot of fun. They are the perfect salmon to introduce your partner, kids or grandkids into the wonderful world of flyfishing.

Oncorhynchus Gorbuscha

Easely distinguished apart from other salmon species by their forked tail and oval spots, the pink salmon is the smallest salmon species of the Pacific. But what they lack in size they make up in numbers and their willingness to take a fly. The pinkies provide a lot of fun when you have the correct material, as they will attack anything including a dry fly. They often sit in large schools close to shore, making them easily accessible for newcomers and children to target.

The pinks start to enter the river in early July and run all the way to the end of August. It’s a fun fish to catch when other salmon species are harder to catch.

If you like to make memories with your partner, child or grand child this is the perfect salmon to introduce them to the wonderful world of salmon fishing. They run in July when the sun is shining most days and the weather is as good as it gets.
